Safety fair -- The City of Henderson's annual Save-A-Life Saturday Safety Fair will be held Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset Mall. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruction and safety classes begin every 45 minutes beginning at 7:30 a.m. Participation is open to those ages eight years and older. The fee is $3 per person; $5 per family.

Wine lessons -- UNLV will offer an introduction to the art of wine tasting at 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 23 through Oct. 21, and another section from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 24 to Oct. 22. Henderson briefs -- The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Departments offers the following activities:

Financial aid workshop -- Registration is due by Sept. 22 for a financial assistance introductory workshop 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 26 at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View recreation Center, 500 Harris St., Henderson. The workshop is for college-bound high school students. Call 565-2121 to register.

Catalina excursion -- Take a trip to Catalina Island Saturday. Buses depart at 2 a.m. from the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, and 2:30 a.m. from the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. They'll return at approximately 1 a.m. The all-day trip costs $75 per person and includes round-trip motor coach and boat transportation to Catalina Island. Call 565-2121 to register.

Debt workshop -- A "Living Debt Free" workshop will be hosted from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road. The $25 per person fee includes a personalized debt reduction plan. Call 565-2880 for information.

Astrology workshop -- An astrology workshop will be offered from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center. The fee is $15. Call 565-2057 to pre-register.

Scrapbooking workshop -- The Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center hosts a creative photo album workshop 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Teddy Bear picnic -- This month's installation of the "My Morning Out" program will feature a "Teddy Bear Picnic" 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center. Art-A-Craft -- The Winchester Community Center, 3130 South McLeod Dr., presents Actors Showcase Production of "Act-A-Craft," a series of stage and screen scenes performed by the Joseph Bernard Acting Studio, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23-24. Admission is free.

Actress lectures -- The Screen Actors Guild Nevada Conservatory presents actress, acting coach and director Kasey Rogers, who hosts a seminar from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, on her career and today's theatrical job market. The seminar will be held at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.

Acting instruction -- A movement workshop lead by Chris Timmons, from 1-5 p.m. Sept. 26, will include face and body techniques for actors. The workshop will be in the Alta Ham Fine Arts Center ay UNLV.

Art exhibits -- The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District presents the following art exhibitions:

Watercolor works -- Artist Aurora Alvarez presents her current watercolor and pastel works Sept. 22 through Nov. 17 at the West Las Vegas Library.

Desert images -- "Mojave Messages," by Native American artist Char Cruz, is on display at the Enterprise Library Sept. 24 through Nov. 22. An artists' reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 26.

Ceramics shown -- The Nevada Clay Guild Members Show, Sept. 29 through Nov. 15 at the Whitney Library, will feature works in porcelain and high-fire ceramics.

Engravings exhibit: West Las Vegas Library Gallery -- An exhibit of acrylic and glass engravings by local artist Anna Fisicaro includes wildlife and nature settings as well as Native American and southwest art. It runs through Sunday at the West Las Vegas library Gallery.

Berry exhibited -- John W. Berry's works, which includes still-lifes, portraits and non-objective works in ink, oil, acrylic, and graphite, are on display at the Enterprise Library thorough Tuesday.

Slide competition -- The annual city-wide slide competition, sponsored by the Nevada Camera Club, and is open to the public at the Whitney Library Gallery through Sept, 27. Prints of the first place winners in each category will be exhibited.

Nast exhibits -- Dolores Nast's exhibit, exploring textures and colors in acrylics, pastels and pencil, is at the Rainbow Library through Oct. 4.

Metal meets art -- "In a Silver State," an exhibit by artist Kim Hoffman, includes sterling silver pieces and other metals. It is on display at the Sunrise Library through Oct. 6.

Arts emergency -- Charles Morgans photographic images are featured in the "There's No Such Thing as a Fine Arts Emergency" exhibit at the Sahara West Library through Nov. 1.

Regional art -- "A History of Mexicans in Southern Nevada," a photographic essay which portrays Mexican and Mexican- Americans in a visual documentary of their contributions to Nevada's history, is on display at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, through Nov. 3. Asian-American artist Emmy L. Hartwick's works are on display there through Sunday.

Photos displayed -- Photographer Ed Foster presents his recent images through Nov. 8 at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle.

Courses offered -- The Reed Whipple Cultural Center (821 Las Vegas Blvd. North, 229-6211) and the Charleston Heights Arts Center (800 S. Auditions -- Auditions for "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" will be held at Community College of Southern Nevada from from 6-10 p.m. Sept. 28 and 29 in the Nicholas Horn Theatre on CCSN's Cheyenne campus. The musical will be directed by Douglas Baker.

Thirty roles are available for males and females ages 18-65. Entertainers are asked to prepare a one-minute Broadway show tune solo; an accompanist will be provided. There will also be cold readings. A resume and photo is requested. A copy of the musical will be on reserve at the CCSN library. Rehearsals will begin Oct. 5, with performances Nov. 13-22. CCSN is located at 3200 E. Author lectures -- Acclaimed novelist Robert Stone ("A Hall of Mirrors," "Dog Soldiers," "A Flag For Sunrise") will host a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Barrick Museum Auditorium at UNLV.
