Letter: Don't blame the media for reporting disgusting news

Perhaps to the casual news follower things have not changed much, but for those foreign leaders who were forced to wait while the president finished his other business (Monica Lewinsky) and for the members of Congress who engaged Clinton in phone conversation while he was simultaneously engaged in other business (no names necessary), there might seem to be much that has changed.

We should blame not the media but ourselves, for it is we who support them -- we watch, we read, we listen and yet it's not enough. We want to feel the news, touch it, taste it -- we want to be a part of it. So maybe "we" need to take a step back, not the media.

In our haste to condemn, let's not kill the messenger; instead let us put the blame where it belongs -- in the lap of the president. Lies, deceit, corruption; maybe they've always been there, maybe they haven't, but one thing is certain -- with good media sources we'll know when and where to look.
