Man killed in apparent gang shooting in Reno

Omar Rodriguez was shot shortly before 3 a.m. in the parking lot of the Six Pence Motel on South Virginia Street, Reno police said.

He was taken to Washoe Medical Center hospital by others at the scene. He died a few hours later.

Shortly after the shooting, Sparks police stopped a vehicle that matched the description of one seen leaving the scene.

Occupants of the vehicle, as well as others, were being questioned.

Police said the victim and others involved are known gang members.
