Blackjacks open hockey season

The Las Vegas Blackjacks will open the Western States Hockey League season against the Ventura Mariners at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at the Sahara Ice Palace, 700 Karen Ave., in Commercial Center. The Blackjacks are a junior hockey team coached by Bryan O'Neil. Call 456-7888 for details.
In other hockey action this weekend:
More than 1,000 players have invaded the Sands Convention Center for the USA Hockey InLine Cup, which runs through Sunday. Las Vegas will be represented by the Cheetah Vandals, a men's division II team which finished 4-1 in last year's tournament. Former Las Vegas Thunder goalie Manon Rheaume will participate in the women's bracket.
