ICAHN GETS FINAL OK FOR ARIZONA CHARLIE'S -- Carl Icahn received final regulatory approval to take control of the bankrupt Arizona Charlie's hotel-casino Thursday. The state gaming commission approved Icahn as president and controlling shareholder, completing the billionaire financier's quest for control of the Decatur Boulevard resort. Icahn gained control of the resort in bankruptcy court, after buying a majority position in the property's bonds. Icahn took over the bankrupt Stratosphere hotel-casino in a similar manner.

COMPANY GETS DISTRIBUTION DEAL -- Las Vegas-based Amazon Natural Treasures announced today it had reached a non-exclusive agreement with Retail Entertainment Group Inc. to distribute Amazon Natural Treasures' "Touch of Nature" product. Touch of Nature is a sugar substitute for calorie-restricted diets made from the sap and leaves of a small tree found in the Brazilian Amazon rain forest. Retail Entertainment will market the product to 50 candy and health food stores around the country.

CHAMBER GROUP TO DONATE BUS -- A renovated school bus will be donated on Sunday to the Classroom on Wheels program by the Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Las Vegas Class of 1997. The COW bus serves preschool children in 23 at-risk neighborhoods in Southern Nevada.

FIRMS IN PACT FOR CASINO SIGNS -- Spintek Gaming Technologies of Las Vegas said it signed a pact with B&D Signs to make visual information products for the casino industry. The companies will unveil one of their new products at the World Gaming Conference and Exhibition this week.

RETAIL CENTER UNDER WAY -- InterCapital Development Inc. said it started work on the Tropicana & Jones Retail Center on Tropicana Avenue just east of Jones Boulevard. The building will have 7,000 square feet.

INDUSTRIAL, OFFICE COMPLEX OPENS -- Insight Air Center Phase II at Post Road and McLeod Drive opened with seven buildings for lease and sale. The industrial, warehouse and office buildings range from 3,748 to 5,160 square feet. Insight Realty Associates said the development near McCarran International Airport accommodates small investors and Small Business Administration buyers.

STALLION MOUNTAIN ADDITION COMPLETED -- Developer Billy Walters' Stallion Mountain Country Club said it completed a 12,000-square-foot addition to its clubhouse. It's at the three-course Stallion Mountain complex on East Flamingo Road.
