Lemmon Valley pastor arrested on lewdness charges

Ron Chalmers, 51, is a pastor at Fellowship Community Church in Lemmon Valley. He has been active as a pastor the past eight years in the Reno-Sparks and Incline Village areas, officers said.

Washoe County sheriff's deputies investigated the case for three days and obtained a warrant for his arrest on Thursday, Sgt. Bob Towery said.

The warrant charges Chalmers with 16 counts of lewdness with a minor under the age of 14. He allegedly engaged in inappropriate touching of a 7- and 6-year-old female on several different occasions when they were at his home, Towery said.

Chalmers was being held Thursday in the Washoe County Jail in lieu of $80,000 bond.
