MAN SUES FOR REAL ESTATE COMMISSION -- Donald Helmer sued Fairfield Communities and Sunrise Resorts LLC in state court, alleging he is owed commission on a real estate deal in which Sunrise sold land to Fairfield. The suit alleges Sunrise transferred the property to other family-related entities of Sunrise before the sale in an attempt to avoid paying the commission. Helmer claims he is owed $345,000. Attempts to contact Fairfield Communities and Sunrise Resorts for comment failed.
ORLEANS CONSTRUCTION BILL DISPUTED -- Sturgeon Electric Co. Inc. sued The Tiberti Co., Coast Hotel and Casinos Inc. and J.A. Tiberti Construction in Clark County District Court, alleging it is owed money for work it did at the Orleans hotel-casino. Sturgeon claims it is still owed $1.8 million out of a $4.2 million contract. Manuel Mojicar, project manager for Tiberti Construction, said the parties were negotiating a settlement.
