A 38-year-old man died early today at University Medical Center after being shot during a late-night apartment robbery.
Five friends were inside the apartment in the 2600 block of Van Patten Street, near Paradise Road and Sahara Avenue. At about 11:25 p.m. a neighbor knocked and entered, followed by two gunmen with bandanas over their faces. They demanded money, Metro Police said.
One of the occupants got into a scuffle with a robber holding the shotgun, which discharged into the ceiling.
The second gunman shot the victim in his side. They took a small amount of money.
The victim's name was being withheld until relatives can be notified.
The gunmen were described as dark-skinned, dressed in dark clothing. They were last seen in a green Cadillac with gold wheels.
