Obituaries for September 30, 1998

Lily "Dolly" Arp, 95, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 23, 1903, in Trinidad, Colo. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Sanchez of Las Vegas and Frances Shreves of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Edith Dudgeon of Jasper, Mo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Jones.

The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.

RONNIE E. BAXTER

Ronnie E. Baxter, 62, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Inglewood, Calif. A resident for three months, he was a retired truck driver and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, Joseph Reilly Baxter and Ronnie E. Baxter Jr., both of El Monte, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

KENNETH BRETTNER

Kenneth Brettner, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. He was born Feb. 12, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired painter for the Clark County School District.

He is survived by his wife, Verna; two daughters, Sharon Willard of St. Paul and Cynthia Nelson of Las Vegas; one stepson, Timothy Swonger, and two stepdaughters, Diana Day and Michele Moses, all of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mass was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in St. Christopher's Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

The family suggests donations to St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., Las Vegas, NV 89030.

HARRY W. CURTIS

Harry W. Curtis, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 9, 1915, in Toronto. A resident for 23 years, he was a clerk for a police department.

He is survived by four sons, John Curtis of Pahrump, Denis Curtis of Washington state, Michael Curtis of Alaska and Richard Curtis of Utah; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

THOMAS EARL DAVIS

Thomas Earl Davis, 48, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 13, 1950, in California. A resident for 26 years, he was a painter in the construction industry, an Army veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Jenneva Cunningham Davis; one son, Thomas Earl Davis Jr. of California; one daughter, Lakeisha Davis of Las Vegas; four brothers, Billy Gray, Tommy Smith, Eddie Smith and Michael Smith, all of Sacramento; six sisters, Linda Jackson, Brenda Dyer and Elverso Raphiel, all of Las Vegas, Johnnie Mae Cunningham of Sacramento, Cozetta Gray of Oakland, Calif., and Barbara Guinn of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

JEANNE D. HARRIS

Jeanne D. Harris, 66, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Los Angeles. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired elementary school teacher.

She is survived by three sons, James Bradley Harris of Las Vegas, Russell A. Harris of Port Moresby, New Guinea, and Christopher P. Harris of Sydney, Australia; one daughter, Sharon L. Harris of Bathurst, Australia; one sister, Winnifred Lusk of Santa Maria, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

ROBERT JOSEPH HOLDEN

Robert Joseph Holden, 56, of Las Vegas died Sept. 3 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Tennessee. A resident for many years, he was a office supply salesman.

He is survived by one daughter, Katherine C. Pollock of Las Vegas.

HARRY LEE THOMAS

Harry Lee Thomas, 57, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Orangeburg, S.C. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired Air Force technical sergeant, a Navy veteran, a Vietnam War veteran and a retired postal worker.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Mason of Jamaica, N.Y.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

KERMIT TOTTEN

Kermit Totten, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 13, 1909, in Princeton, W.Va. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired Army master sergeant and World War II and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alveda; and three sisters, Virginia Baker of Boone, N.C., Georgia King of North Carolina and Pauline Goodman of Denver.

Graveside services will be 8:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

LYDIA 'LEE' WRIGHT

Lydia "Lee" Wright, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Fargo, N.D. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Kerry Wright of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lenny Wright of Torrance, Calif., and John P. Wright of Martinez, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
