Letter: No Gaines for Rebels

I think Ron Kantowski was absolutely right in his Thursday column. UNLV made a terrible mistake by letting Kevin Gaines get away.

If the Rebels would have signed him and the kid who is going to Georgetown (Demetrius Hunter of Cheyenne) they could have been set in the backcourt. UNLV needs to become a more athletic team. The Rebels need to surround Shawn Marion with players who will excel in an open court game, both on offense and defense.

I think Bill Bayno gets one more year to prove himself. If he can't win 22 games and get to the NCAA tourney, then it's time for him to go.
