Programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are free of charge, but reservations are required.

Hikes and walks begin at the Visitor's Center. Call 363-1921 to make reservations or more information.

Among the programs is Tails of the Coyote, the world and legend of the desert dog on an easy three-mile stroll Wednesday.

Registration for classes being taken

Clark County Parks and Recreation offers more than 300 classes in adventure recreation, arts and crafts., child development, exercise and fitness, languages, martial arts, music, sports and special interest.

Classes are held at 14 Community Centers. Mail-in registration runs through Thursday. Walk-in registration begins April 12. The six-week class sessions are scheduled to begin April 19. For a copy of the latest brochure or for additional information, call 455-8200.

Southern Nevadans selected to dean's lists

The following local students have been named to the dean's list at their respective universities:

Several receive Eagle designations

The following have earned the distinction of Eagle Scout from the Boulder Dam Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America:

Boulder City High leads way in new event

Boulder City High School took top honors in the first Nevada High School Regional Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the State Bar of Nevada. The team advances to the state competition.

Clark County high schools participated in the competition hosted by Advanced Technologies Academy. Other teams that qualified for the state competition are Advanced Technologies, Cimarron-Memorial, Green Valley, Las Vegas Academy, the Meadows, Silverado and Valley.

Although mock trial is new to Nevada, most states have been participating in the program for many years. Teams consisting of six to eight members play the roles of attorneys and witnesses for the prosecution or defense in a mock criminal or civil case. Teams are chosen from regional competition to proceed to state competition, with the winning team representing the state in a national event. This year's national competition will be in St. Louis May 8.

Young, Indiana University.Sandy Beall of Vo-Tech High School has achieved Certified Journalism Educator status from the Journalism Education Association. She will be honored April 8-11 at the spring JEA/NSPA National Convention in Albuquerque, N.M.Timothy L. Routh, a senior at Chaparral High School, earned a President's Scholarship from Pacific Lutheran University.

IMMUNIZATIONS

Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open Wednesday through April 13:
