The golf center at a Las Vegas sports theme park says it has been profitable each month since an ownership and management change.
A spokeswoman for All-American SportPark Inc. said the Callaway Golf Center has achieved profitability each month since the company took it over on Dec. 31. The golf center includes a lighted nine-hole golf course, a 110-tee driving range, a pro shop and a restaurant.
The company announced successive increases in profits during what traditionally is an off season for weather. It issued a statement in advance of the company's announcement of quarterly earnings, which is expected to be released within the next month.
"The company is anticipating large increases in numbers of customers in the Las Vegas peak season, which we are just now entering," said Ron Boreta, chief executive officer of All-American SportPark. "Because of the inherent operating leverage at the facility, this should translate into substantial profits in this year's second quarter."
The golf center was acquired from Callaway after the company changed its name from Saint Andrews Golf Corp. All-American SportPark is two-thirds owned by Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis, Inc.
