A workshop entitled "Houseplants: Commonly Asked Questions," will be offered 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday by Sunrise Senior Friends-Green Valley, Clark County Parks and Recreation-Whitney Senior Center, and the Nevada Cooperative Extension-Master Gardener Program at the Whitney Senior Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave.
The class will focus on commonly asked questions on houseplants. Participants are encouraged to bring their sick plants for evaluation by the master gardener. Reservations are required. Call 434-6500.
CPR, driving among various classes planned
Senior Advantage Resource Center will be offering the following classes:
* A CPR class 1-4 p.m. Monday at Desert Springs Hospital. It is free to the first eight attendees.
* A 55 Alive Drivers Course presented by AARP will be from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The cost is $8.
* Understanding Diabetes presented by the Diabetes Treatment Center will be 2-3 p.m. April 13. Call 369-7911 for more information or to RSVP for the seminar.
* A Look At Rehab Medicine class presented by Joseph Gnoyski M.D. will be 1-2 p.m. April 15.
Workshop on tap to deal with problems
A Community Education workshop on sex offenders is being offered 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:45-4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the West Charleston Library Amphitheater, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
The morning lectures and panel presentation will be of particular interest to those who have received notification that a sex offender lives in their neighborhood, for those who are concerned about sex offenders in the community and their impact on community safety, or for nonprofit agencies, schools, child-care facilities, mentoring programs, and churches who use volunteers.
The afternoon sessions are restricted to law enforcement and treatment professionals working with sexual offenders and nonprofit agencies and organizations who utilize volunteers in their programs. Call 258-7744 to register.
