Sexual assaults on teen girls linked

Police are looking for a man preying on teenage girls in Las Vegas.

Two 13-year-olds and a 15-year-old have been sexually assaulted since November. The descriptions of their assailants have been about the same -- 6-feet, 1-inch tall, 230 to 240 pounds, dirty blond, uncombed hair and several days' growth of beard.

A composite drawing of the suspect was made after the March 26 attack of a 13-year-old Molasky Middle School student waiting for her school bus at 7:20 a.m. in the area of Cimarron and Lone Mountain roads.

Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro Police's sexual assault and abuse section said the drawing was shown to the other two victims and they said it resembled the man who attacked them.

The 15-year-old girl was attacked Nov. 28 around 11 p.m. as she walked in the area of Sahara Avenue and Lindell Road.

The second 13-year-old was attacked the morning of Jan. 15 as she walked to her school bus.

The girl assaulted on March 26 was attacked in an unknown area and released about an hour later in the 2700 block of East Craig Road.

She said her abductor was wearing a green, short-sleeved shirt and knee-length shorts made of dark blue denim. The man was driving a grayish-blue, four-door, mid- to small-sized car. The interior of the car is described as tan leather that is old and worn.

Monahan said unlike assault cases involving adults, where there are more assaults than reported, when a case involves a child abduction it is almost always reported.

"We're confident every time a child is abducted, we know about it," Monahan said.
