Union wins election at Alamo, loses at Budget

Teamsters Union Local 995 won one and lost one in its campaign to organize two local branches of national rental car companies.

Employees of Las Vegas' Alamo Rent A Car voted 127 to 71 Friday to unionize. The office is the first Alamo rental office in the nation to vote for a union. The bargaining unit will include bus drivers, rental agents, mechanics, custodial workers, return agents, car washers and clerks.

But Thursday, the Union lost an election to unionize Budget Car & Truck Rental's Paradise Road office by a 114-50 margin. Local 995 organizer Rob Rovere said the union has no plans to appeal that vote.
