Letter: Gays want equal, not special, rights

Thank you Las Vegas Sun and Jerry Fink for running to date the most complete and accurate story that I've read about Assembly Bill 311 and the gay perspective. It's a shame that Nevada Eagle Forum President Janine Hansen is so misinformed about gay rights.
Homosexuals do not want special rights, just equal rights to be able to work and live without the fear of being fired or attacked because of who we love and sleep with.
As for the gay agenda, yes, we do have one -- it's to be allowed to live without discrimination. Hansen states that homosexuals are "extremely aggressive" and that she has been physically assaulted.
I wonder if that is how Matthew Shepard and Billy Jack Gaither felt just before they were tortured and murdered just for being gay! Hansen's comment that homosexuals have no respect for anybody's rights is so ignorant and unfounded; is it any wonder that the right wing is so confused?
