Woman dies from car accident injuries

Ruth Peters was pronounced dead Saturday evening at Washoe Medical Center, where she was taken with critical injuries Friday.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Sonia Quiroz, 34, of Reno, was northbound on U.S. Highway 395 near North McCarran Boulevard when her vehicle hit a patch of ice and spun into Peters' oncoming vehicle.
Quiroz escaped with minor injuries.
Troopers said they think the ice on the roadway was caused by water draining from the back of construction trucks hauling wet dirt.
