The Las Vegas City Council on Monday renewed its contract with lobbyists to oppose pending congressional legislation that would locate a temporary nuclear-waste storage facility at the Nevada Test Site.
Alcade & Fay has lobbied on behalf of the city and Clark County against attempts to force location of a storage facility at the Test Site, 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, since 1995.
The city and county both pay $39,000 annually toward the lobbying expenses. The Clark County Commission has already renewed its share of the contract.
