Oddsmaker: Goodman's chances better

Oscar Goodman's aggressive campaign for Las Vegas mayor has convinced a local oddsmaker to improve the noted attorney's chances of winning the job.

But prognosticator Jackie Dell is still making longtime Las Vegas City Councilman Arnie Adamsen the favorite in the mayoral race.

"Oscar Goodman is running a loud, clear and confident campaign," said Dell, who moved Goodman up to a 6-to-1 underdog from his opening line of 10-1.

Adamsen, who opened as a 1-4 favorite according to Dell's odds that were published in the April 2 edition of the Sun, is now 1-3. Local developer Mark Fine remains unchanged at 15-to-1. The rest of the field remains unchanged at 150-to-1.

Dell also has improved Councilman Michael McDonald's chances of beating former Councilman Steve Miller. He has moved McDonald from a 7-to-5 favorite to a 9-to-5 favorite.

Betting on elections in Nevada is illegal. Dell's lines are for entertainment purposes only and reflect the speculation of a man who has posted sports and political odds for more than 45 years -- the last 20 in Las Vegas.
