Letter: Too many students dropping out

Children drop out of school every year, but no one seems to be doing anything about it. Nine percent of children in the United States drop out of school each year. High school dropouts also face a hard time in their future for employment.

Top occupations require a high school diploma and up to two years of training. Occupations not requiring a diploma have a median wage of $7.50 per hour.

The earnings for people with a diploma are much higher. I feel not enough is being done to ensure the future of these students, and action needs to be taken.
