Letter: Cops should help, not harm, citizens

Police have been getting away with way too much. That is why police do not receive the respect they want. The mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, is in denial. He is careless and a cold-hearted man to let his town's police force get away with this behavior. Giuliani's defensiveness is politically tone-deaf.

Then he's wondering why the black community is beginning civil disobedience, which the powerless, not the powerful, express best. The mayor is wrong for being skeptical of these demonstrations. Then he is getting the people who are standing up for what is right arrested. The people have to stop letting the cops get away with the killing and brutality.

There have been too many incidents where cops are killing the innocent people in society. They are just too trigger happy and feel they have too much power. We need to take that power away. This has to be stopped.
