Letter: Union shows its lack of sincerity

Ostensibly Local 226 will be marching in front of the Venetian over the issue of access to the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Given that the union doesn't march in front of all other hotels that claim ownership of their sidewalks, however, the union's lack of sincerity is apparent.

The leadership of Local 226, which refused to allow its own office employees to unionize, would like to force employees of the Venetian to be members of the Culinary Union. They hope the protests in front of the Venetian will help accomplish their goal.

More likely, their protests will only inconvenience the public and anger all Venetian employees who believe they alone should have the right to determine their future.

I applaud Sheldon Adelson for bringing beauty to our community. I condemn Culinary Union Local 226 for its current attempt to cover that beauty with ugliness. Jordan H. Bodenstein
