Adjutant general says call-up likely for Nevada unit

CARSON CITY -- Adjutant General Tony Clark said today it was likely that a unit in the Nevada Air National Guard would be called to active duty as part of the assault on Yugoslavia.

Clark said the 115-person 152nd Intelligence Squadron, based in Reno, would probably be notified this week that it is part of the 33,102 reservists being summoned to active duty.

But they probably won't be going overseas. This squadron has personnel who are experts in interpreting photos to determine where there may be hidden targets or in assessing what damage has been done in bombing.

There is already a handful of the unit at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, Calif., which are doing this reconnaissance work, looking at photos transmitted by satellites. Clark said the rest of the squadron, if it is activated, would probably go to Beale.

The Reno unit is one of only three reconnaissance photo-analysis units in the country.
