I heard it is thanks to Barbara Greenspun who convinced dear Ruthe to finally seek medical advice. So thanks to you, Barbara!

I can well understand why after all these many dedicated years with the Sun, Ruthe is now considering retirement. How about a semi-retirement, Ruthe? So semi- that it would involve you continuing with a weekly column only.
