Mary Lewis Allen, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born May 8, 1911, in Hilo, Hawaii. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Robert and Earl, both of California, and Edward of Washington state; one daughter, Mary of Nevada; one brother, John Lewis of California; one sister, Lorraine Chippari of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Lynne Gable

Lynne Gable, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 10, 1931, in Clenavon, Saskatchewan. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired hotel waitress, a veteran of the Canadian Air Force and a longtime member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Scanlan of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Kurt Geiger

Kurt Geiger, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 15, 1924, in Vienna, Austria. A resident for six years, he was a retired purchasing executive in the aerospace industry.

He is survived by his wife, Anusia; one son, Richard Geiger of Corona, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Joseph Julius Hannig

Joseph Julius Hannig, 94, of Mesquite died Saturday in a Provo, Utah, care center. He was born Jan. 30, 1905, in Mesquite. A former resident of Southern Nevada, he was a Las Vegas Post Office employee for 33 years, retiring as chief accountant, a ward clerk, stake missionary and bishop's counselor for the LDS Church, loved hunting, fishing and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Afton; and one son, Joseph Carlisle Hannig.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Hannig and Jonathan Hannig; one daughter, Karen Henderson; one sister, Vera Mainor; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-7:30 p.m. Friday in Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 12:30 p.m. services Saturday in Parowan LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in Parowan City Cemetery.

Max Lam

Max Lam, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Canada. A resident for many years, he was a grocery store manager.

He is survived by one son, Nathan Lam of Los Angeles.

No local services are scheduled. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Gladys Lawnicki

Gladys Lawnicki, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Milwaukee. A resident for 27 years, she was a retired assembly line worker for an electrical company.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald; and one sister, Lucille Drews, and two brothers, Harold Kamnetz and Richard Kamnetz, all of Milwaukee.

Jimmie Ray Love

Jimmie Ray Love, 63, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born May 18, 1935, in Arcadia, La. A resident for many years, he owned and operated Love's Cocktail Lounge and House of Love restaurant in Las Vegas and will be remembered as a generous and loving man.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Alice Annette Love and Marva L. Carroll, both of Las Vegas, and Barbara Landers of Tallulah, La.; one son, Michael Landers of Tallulah; five brothers, Wilson Love, Edward Love, Levester Love, Lonnie Love and Ezekiel Love; three sisters, Jewel, Marjorie and Dorothy; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Maggie L. Love

Maggie L. Love, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 9, 1927, in Canton, Miss. A resident for many years, she was a requisitioner for 28 years at Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Co., a member of the Eastern Star and the New Bethel Baptist Church choir.

She is survived by two sons, Roosevelt Rogers of Henderson and Larry McGee of California; two brothers, Danny McGee and Samuel McGee, both of Las Vegas; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in New Bethel Baptist Church, 400 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Miguel Angel Perez de Alejo

Miguel Angel Perez de Alejo, 65, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Cuba. A resident for 29 years, he was a Las Vegas Hilton porter and a member of Culinary Union 226.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

JoAnne H. Platt

JoAnne H. Platt, 57, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 18, 1942, in New Jersey. A resident for eight years, she was a retired secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Charles T. Sr.; two sons, Bruce J. Platt of Las Vegas and Charles T. Platt Jr. of Spring Hill, Tenn.; her mother, Angelina Ascough of Trenton, N.J.; one sister, Angela Anderson of Beach Haven, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until a 6 p.m. prayer service in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Mervyn Rosenfeld

Mervyn Rosenfeld, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Paterson, N.J. A resident for one year, he was a mortgage banker and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Cohen of Las Vegas; one son, Scott Rosenfeld of Los Angeles; one sister, Ina Heller of Teaneck, N.J.; one brother, Marc Rosenfeld of Boston; and three grandchildren.

Services were 11 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services followed in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Edward Lee Shelton Jr.

Edward Lee Shelton Jr., 40, of Las Vegas died April 21 in Las Vegas. He was born April 15, 1959, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for many years, he was a laborer in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; three sons, Edward Phillip Shelton, Jerime Lee Shelton and Anthony Malik Shelton; three daughters, Tinesha Shelton, Shavone Thomas and Jassmin McAbee; her parents, Melva and Savoyd Reynolds; three brothers, Hurley Shelton, Dean Shelton and Fredrick Jacobs; three sisters, Paula Reynolds, Poesha Walker and Jackie Moore; and his grandparents, Louis and Henrietta Pace.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Harrison-Ross. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gary Hart Slack

Gary Hart Slack, 47, of Las Vegas died April 10 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 1, 1951, in El Paso, Texas. A resident for 10 years, he was a carpenter, a Vietnam War Army veteran, a member of the Carpenters Union and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; two daughters, Samantha Slack and Melissa Slack, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Billy Slack and David Slack, both of Gallup, N.M.; and two brothers, Scott Slack of Las Vegas and Michael Slack of El Paso.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Benjamin F. Thompson

Benjamin F. Thompson, 74, of Las Vegas died April 19 in a local hospice. He was born July 1, 1924, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired professor emeritus and first chair of the Department of Communication Studies at Cal Poly in Pomona, Calif. He earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor of arts degree in English literature from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. and was an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one sister, A. Lorene Eck of Hughesville, Pa.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Stephen A. Zito

Stephen A. Zito, 82, of Las Vegas died April 19 in Las Vegas. He was born May 6, 1916, in East Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 20 years, he was a welder for a boxcar manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Judith A.; one son, Richard Zito, and one daughter, Donna Caruso, both of California; two stepsons, Joe Baldo of Arizona and Jim Baldo of Florida; three sisters, Marie Bartholomew of Nevada and Connie Benedetto and Sarah Ricci, both of New York state; and four grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.
