Motorcyclist killed

Steven Vargas, 48, died at University Medical Center shortly after the 4:35 p.m. crash Friday.
North Las Vegas police said Vargas was driving on Alexander Road near Valley Drive when an all-terrain vehicle sped out of the desert and onto the roadway. It was being driven by a 15-year-old boy whose name was not released because of his age.
Police said Vargas swerved, but the bike collided with the all-terrain vehicle, throwing Vargas.
The boy suffered a broken arm, cut lip and concussion, and was being treated at the hospital.
