Hearing set for suspects in death of palsy patient

An Oct. 1 preliminary hearing has been scheduled for two Las Vegas residents accused of beating a woman to death and storing her body in a freezer.

Wilman Oslund, 67, and his girlfriend, Sherry Kahalehoe, 30, were arrested Aug. 2 in connection with the December death of Oslund's sister-in-law, Sheila Manantan. They remain in the Clark County Detention Center on charges of murder, kidnapping, accessory to commit murder and conspiracy to kidnap.

Kahalehoe appeared for her arraignment before Justice of the Peace Nancy Oesterle Monday and Oslund made his appearance Tuesday, Deputy District Attorney L.J. O'Neal said.

On Dec. 15, 1998 Oslund called the Clark County coroner's office to report that Manantan, a cerebral palsy patient, had died.

An autopsy revealed Manantan died as a result of blunt force trauma to her body.
