ATLANTIC CITY -- Spirit Airlines, a discount air carrier that serves resort communities along the East Coast, will discontinue flights to Atlantic City from Boston and Detroit in September.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that Indian casinos in Connecticut have reduced the number of gamblers flying to Atlantic City from Boston while Detroit opened its first casino last month to compete with a Canadian casino in nearby Windsor, Ontario.
Spirit intends to beef up its service to Florida and Myrtle Beach, S.C., when it ends its Boston and Detroit flights, the Press said.
