ELKO, Nev. - Gov. Kenny Guinn was headed to eastern Nevada Thursday to meet with firefighters and tour range lands blackened by wild fires.
Guinn planned to meet with families in Spring Creek, where a mobile home park was damaged and two trailers destroyed, his spokesman Jack Finn said.
He also was scheduled to visit with fire officials at the Elko County fairgrounds and with a team of scientists and specialists from the Bureau of Land Management assessing damage in the area.
Over the past week, wild fires have burned more than 1 million acres of Nevada range.
