Las Vegan advances in golf tournament

Stephanie Keever of Las Vegas won two matches Wednesday in the U.S. Women's Amateur at Asheville, N.C.

The graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School and Stanford University student defeated Summer Phinney of Greensboro, N.C., 5 and 3, and Darcy Isaac of Cincinnati, 5 and 4.

Keever was to play Erica Blasberg of Corona, Calif., this morning. If successful in that match, Keever would compete in this afternoon's quarterfinals, being televised by ESPN (Cox cable channel 19).
