Letter: Guinn appointment not good for people

Even though she is a registered nurse, she testified on behalf of the Medicaid HMOs against the creation of that position. In addition, she has been, at various times, an account executive for an enormous for-profit heath care corporation and vice president of a short-lived HMO that had a reputation for denial of claims and poor customer relations. Most recently she has been chief of managed care for the state.
The governor seems to think the ombudsman should represent the health care industry and HMOs rather than the citizens of Nevada. Either he totally misunderstands the purpose of the newly created position or he has decided to violate legislative intent by sabotaging a program the he and his big business cronies never wanted in the first place.
