Letter: Tobacco settlement was improperly used by governor

I have yet to hear anyone comment on how the settlement was suppose to work. I mean if I were to develop lung cancer what should I do: come knocking on the governor's door for funds? I fortunately quit smoking a few months ago and I could have used money to cover the cost of the nicotine gum I used.

They say we were given a tax cut to quit but I was able to file the E-Z form, for 1998, and I saw nothing that said I could take this benefit.

If I were to have been in an auto accident and lost a limb and won a million-dollar settlement how would the people react if the government took it?

Furthermore, if he couldn't have used it on smoking related illnesses, why couldn't he have at least used it toward another health crisis we have in our state. That would be the meth explosion.

People need help getting off this drug and the police need help fighting it!
