Atlantic City property files for bankruptcy

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- The operator of the Claridge Casino Hotel in Atlantic City has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Claridge Hotel and Casino Corp. of Camden, N.J. announced the filing in a press release. It said the move was intended to facilitate a financial restructuring. No further details were given. The company's bonds trade publicly on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Claridge opened in July 1981 and has 59,000 square feet of casino floor space.
