Dealerships sue NDOT, highway contractor

Two Fletcher Jones dealerships and Universal Underwriters Group sued Max Riggs Construction and its supervisor, the Nevada Department of Transportation, alleging they did shoddy construction work and forced the insurance company to reimburse Fletcher Jones for property damages.

On July 19, 1998, a storm broke while Max Riggs was working on Interstate 15, the Desert Inn overpass and the roadways adjacent to and immediately across the street to the east of 3100 and 3130 S. Rancho Drive, where the Fletcher Jones dealerships are located, the suit said.

The plaintiffs claimed the construction company left a large pile of dirt and debris in front of a drainage opening, which prevented rain water from being drained under I-15,and damaging the dealerships.
