LV firm expands to St. Louis

Ameristar Casinos Inc. of Las Vegas said today it's expanding to Missouri with plans to develop a casino on the Mississippi River in southern St. Louis County.

Ameristar operates the Reserve hotel-casino in Henderson along with riverboats in Mississippi and Iowa.

Improved results at the Reserve helped Ameristar earn $779,000, or 4 cents per share, for the quarter ending June 30 vs. a loss in the year-ago quarter of nearly $2.5 million.
