MGM Grand executive leaves for Dallas job

Don Welsh, who served as senior vice president of marketing for 15 months at the MGM Grand hotel-casino, has taken a job with Wyndham International Inc.

Welsh was named senior vice president of sales for the Dallas-based company and will oversee sales for all Wyndham brands, including Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Grand Bay Hotels and Resorts, Summerfield Suites and Sierra Suites.

Prior to working at the MGM Grand, Welsh was vice president of worldwide sales for Westin Hotels and Resorts. He also was corporate director of marketing for Ritz-Carlton Hotels.

Welsh was replaced at the MGM Grand by Chuck Bowling, who was named vice president of sales and marketing for the resort in January.

Wyndham's properties include 317 hotels with more than 74,000 rooms in 38 states and Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. None of the Wyndham properties are in Nevada.
