Shonie Banning

Shonie Banning, 28, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 31, 1971, in Illinois. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Zerry; four sons, Edward Flitcraft, Jake Flitcraft, Ryan Banning and Shawn Banning, and one daughter, Kourtnei Banning, all of Las Vegas; her parents, Glenn and Judy Virgen; two brothers, Richard Virgen of Las Vegas and Gary Virgen of Henderson; and one sister, Tara Virgen of Las Vegas.

Services will be noon Wednesday in First Southern Baptist Church, Henderson. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

America Luisa Batis

America Luisa Batis, 22, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born July 31, 1926, in New York City. A resident for five years, she was a fund-raiser.

She is survived by one daughter, Tonie Vergona of Fullerton, Calif.; two sons, Brian Batis of Las Vegas and Chris Batis of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Elvia Pascuiti of Bluffdale, Utah, and Janet Simmonetti of Moreno Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Bill C. Brown

Bill C. Brown, 45, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born June 25, 1954, in California. A resident for 25 years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by one daughter, Christina Marie Brown of Garland, Texas; his father, Wallace Brown of Oklahoma; his mother and stepfather, Lois and Loyce Morgan of Dennison, Texas; and one sister, Carol Pierce of California.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Burial will be in Garland.

Saverio Costanza Jr.

Saverio Costanza Jr., 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 26 years, he was a cab driver, a member of the Italian American Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Costanza, Daniel Costanza and Sammy Costanza; two daughters, Maria Costanza and Carmella Costanza; three brothers, Nanzio Costanza, Tony Costanza and Joe Costanza; one sister, Theresa DeGeronimo; and four grandchildren.

Robert F. Crean

Robert F. Crean, 78, of North Las Vegas died Friday in North Las Vegas. He was born June 9, 1921, in Philadelphia. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired freight engineer with the Pennsylvania Railroad, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion in Yuma, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria M.; one daughter, Nancy Kauffman of Los Angeles; three brothers, Frederick P. Crean Jr. of Sellersville, Pa., Joseph F. Crean of Bellevue, Wash., and Richard Crean of Wildwood, N.J.; two sisters, Anna Rogers of Hatboro, Pa., and Helen Yeager of Lady Lake, Fla.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Robert S. Dodge

Robert S. Dodge, 76, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born July 11, 1923, in Holland, Ohio. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired factory worker.

He is survived by one brother, Thomas Dodge.

Norma L. Dunkin

Norma L. Dunkin, 73, of Tahlequah, Okla., died Wednesday in an Oklahoma nursing home. She was born April 1, 1926, in Marble City, Okla. A former Las Vegas resident from 1966-1995, she was a retired Air Force secretary.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by graveside services in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Billie Bob Garms

Billie Bob Garms, 74, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 9, 1925, in Texas. A resident for 23 years, he was a drilling engineer and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; one son, Glen Garms of Washington state; three daughters, Gwynn Runkle and Cheryl Ann Garms, both of Colorado and Carol Ann Morris of Idaho; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Giovanni Giancaspro

Giovanni Giancaspro, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 1, 1925, in Mofetta, Italy. A resident for 18 years, he worked for the New York Transit Authority until his retirement 18 years ago, then was a warehouse supervisor at the Las Vegas Convention Center and was a World War II Italian Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Pat Giancaspro and James Giancaspro, both of Las Vegas, and Leonard Giancaspro of Shirley, N.Y.; one brother, Carl Giancaspro of Connecticut; one sister, Rose DePinto of College Park, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation continues until 8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will be follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Carole A. Gordon

Carole A. Gordon, 51, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born April 9, 1948, in Chicago. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker, a member of the PTA and a lifetime member of Hadassah.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; one daughter, Mandy Gordon, two sons, Scott Gordon and David Gordon, and her father, Charles Levin, all of Las Vegas; and one sister, Barbara Feinstein of Morton Grove, Ill.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Delmas Dalton Hendrix

Delmas Dalton Hendrix, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 22, 1917, in North Carolina. A resident for three years, he was a salesman for United Airlines and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Lee; one son, Ross Hendrix of Savage, Minn.; one daughter, Jane Hendrix of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

Paul Hunt

Paul Hunt, 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Orlando, Fla. A resident for 36 years, he was a Greyhound bus driver and a Korean War Army and Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, Steven Hunt and David Hunt, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Carol Franta and Jacque Bowman, both of Las Vegas, and Becky Lemcke of Washington state; and eight grandchildren.

Thomas James Kendall

Thomas James Kendall, 48, of Carson City died Thursday in a Northern Nevada hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Las Vegas. He was a computer consultant to the Nevada State Library and Archives, former track official for Southern Nevada TAC, past university unit faculty senate chairman, founder of Citizen Advocacy Program at Opportunity Village and received the highest award by Nevada Library Association for a nonlibrarian in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two sons, Matt Kendall of Carson City and Joe Kendall of Las Vegas; and one brother, Bill Kendall of Las Vegas.

Ivy King

Ivy King, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 2, 1936, in Pineland, Texas. A resident for six years, he was a railroad engineer and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, Gary Dwayne King of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Peter D. Knight

Peter D. Knight, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born July 31, 1934, in West Allis, Wis. A resident for four years, he was a retired supervisor for the Department of Motor Vehicles, an Army veteran and a retired employee of Arizona Charlies.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Marie Cunningham of Beloit, Wis., and Jennifer Smukowski of Milwaukee; two sons, James Knight of Milwaukee and Peter C. Knight of Beloit; one sister Liewella Wangerin of Fifefield, Wis; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be 8-8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Guardian Angel Cathedral. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

William Wallace Knight

William Wallace Knight, 79, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Alameda, Calif. A resident for 14 years, he was a district manager for a conveyor belt company and an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Janette; two daughters, Penelope Troth of Seattle and Patricia Guldin of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Patrick 'Pat' Long

James Patrick 'Pat' Long, 52, of Las Vegas died Aug. 14 in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1946, in Phoenix. A resident for 43 years, he was a barber and contract painter and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Ruby M. Miller of Las Vegas; two brothers, Darwin Long of Las Vegas and Joe Long of Seattle; and one sister, Sandy Whaley of Donaldson, Ga.

George Lyons

George Lyons, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Boston. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired keno supervisor and World War II and Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Whelma; one sister, Dorothy Lyons of Malden, Mass.; and one brother, Donald Lyons of Orlando, Fla.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Sept. 1 in Palm Memorial Park.

Michael Todd Newman

Michael Todd Newman, 20, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 28, 1978, in Las Vegas. A resident for 20 years, he was an air conditioning installer for Sunrise Mechanical and a member of the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Schooley, his father, Michael D. Newman, and two brothers, Monty Newman and Sam Newman, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Delmont and Wanda Wallace of Hurricane, Utah, Katherine and Roy Humphries of Henderson and Goldie Newman of Salt Lake City.

Kenneth Nitz, 55, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Hinsdale, Ill. A resident for 10 years, he was a security officer for Wells Fargo and an Army veteran.

George D. Robinson

George D. Robinson, 92, of Ashland, Ore., died Wednesday in an Ashland hospital. He was born Nov. 6, 1906, in Vinson, Okla. A former Las Vegas resident for 35 years, he was a retired tool clerk for an aircraft company and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Opal.

Cecil D. Sager

Cecil D. Sager, 43, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 27, 1956, in California. A resident for 28 years, he was a real estate maintenance worker.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; four sons, Veron Sager, Cecil Sager Jr. and James Sager, all of California, and Daniel Setter of Minnesota; one daughter, Lisa Maze of North Las Vegas; his father, William Sager of Iowa; his mother, Margaret Sager of California; two brothers, Arthur Sager of Texas and Darin Sager of Iowa; two sisters, Mary McDonald and Margaret Sager, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Anna E.W. Schwenke, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 13, 1922, in Germany. A resident for seven years, she was a fashion designer.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; two daughters, Heide Windisch-Stock of Germany and Dana Muoio of California; two sons, Don Schwenke and Mike Schwenke, both of California; and two grandchildren.

Christopher Rex Smith, 20, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 17, 1979, in Utah. A resident for 11 years, he was a pizza cook.

Irvin F. Stutsman, 82, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born June 13, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired postal worker, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by one daughter, Lani Bauer, one son, Daryl Stutsman, and two brothers, Bryon Stutsman and Elwood Stutsman, all of Rochester; one sister, Muriel Thornberg of Phoenix; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Robert Webb Sr., 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 6, 1919, in Durango, Colo. A resident for seven years, he was a retired custodian and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edena A.; one son, Robert Webb Jr. of Bishop, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Linna White

Linna White, 77, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born April 14, 1922, in Ammon, Idaho. A resident for 57 years, she was a retired department store saleswoman.

She is survived by two daughters, Evalyn Fay of Overton and Marilyn Wall of Las Vegas; one son, Jim White of Las Vegas; four sisters, Klea Kaneen of Woodland, Wash., Peg Smith of Shurtz, Ethel Callahan of Henderson and Jeri Foster of San Bernardino, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Lelwin Wilkinson

Lelwin Wilkinson, 82, of Washington, Utah, died Saturday at a St. George, Utah, care center. He was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Cane Beds, Ariz. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a teacher at Western High School and Gibson Junior High School. He was named 1969 Outstanding Biology Teacher for Nevada among many other teaching honors. After retiring in 1979, he was a rancher in Alamo, served a mission for the LDS Church and was president in two stake Sunday schools. He played the guitar and banjo and enjoyed singing.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Viva; four sons, Floyd of Santa Clara, Utah, Bruce of San Jose, Calif., Verl of Las Vegas and A.J. of Washington; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Washington LDS Third Ward Chapel, 700 E. Telegraph. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10:30 a.m. services Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Hurricane City Cemetery.

Frank Robert Wilson III

Frank Robert Wilson III, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born May 21, 1924, in Plaquemine, La. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired pharmacist and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Loraine; four daughters, Sandra Clark of Inglewood, Calif., Toni Johnson of Chicago, Susan Young of Reno and Karen Williams of Las Vegas; three sons, Blair Stampley of Chicago, Freddie Stampley of Las Vegas and Kevin Wilson of Inglewood; two sisters, Susie Mae Parish of New Orleans and Brenda Amore of Seattle; one brother, Dr. Oliver Wendle Wilson of Los Angeles; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Jones. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Eric Luke Winchell

Eric Luke Winchell, 3 1/2 months, died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 4, 1999, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Kellie Pister, and his father, Eric Winchell, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Bobbie Pister of Salt Lake City, Leona Wright of Reno and David Winchell of Las Vegas.
