RENO, Nev. - The executive director of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority has been given a hefty pay raise and other perks by the agency's board of directors.
After a closed personnel meeting Thursday, the agency's board of directors voted to boost Keene's salary to $180,000 annually. That's a 20 percent increase, up from $149,350.
Keene also was given a $22,000 bonus and a 66 percent increase in his monthly car allowance, from $450 to $750.
Board member and Reno Councilman Tom Herndon noted that when it comes to trying to attract tourists, "top people cost money."
