City sued again over topless club's expansion

An activist who lost a bid for a Las Vegas City Council seat this past spring has sued the city again for its February decision approving an expansion at the Crazy Horse Too topless nightclub.

Peter Christoff filed suit Thursday in District Court alleging the council waived normally required parking and traffic studies related to the expansion even though the Nevada Department of Transportation planned to take all of the parking spaces in front of the club for the widening of Industrial Road.

Christoff, who lost in the primary against incumbent Michael McDonald for the Ward 1 council seat, is seeking an emergency writ to reverse the council's decision and close the club's expanded area.

The longtime Meadows Village resident had sued the city earlier this year alleging the city violated its own code by allowing an expansion of a "nonconforming" business.

Crazy Horse was considered nonconforming because of its proximity to other sexually oriented businesses. Distance requirements established after the club was built prohibit sexually oriented businesses from being within 1,000 feet of one another.
