Letter: Enthusiasts need limits on their Red Rock activities

The private commercial sector should not be allowed within the confines of this protected area. Red Rock is not a "dude" ranch! There should not be even one, much less five stable areas.

Just because someone decides to buy a mountain bike does not mean that Red Rock should be expected to provide a trail for him anywhere he wishes to go. Just because someone decides that rock climbing is the "high" in his life does not mean that Red Rock should be asked to provide an outlet for him.

I have been in canyons when the rock climbers were climbing. The experience of walking in those canyons was certainly not what it should have been with the climbers shouting and hollering back and forth. How many of nature's birds and animals stay in canyons on those days? What of nature's silence can a walker find in a canyon with climbers?

The protection and preservation of Red Rock should be the one and only theme of any proposed general management plan. Human beings should not ask that Red Rock provide for their every whim as they desire to experience Red Rock "their" way, no matter what that way may be.
