Brief: Casino restaurant sales increase

Ark earned $1 million, or 28 cents per share in the quarter, up from $727,000, or 19 cents in the equivalent quarter last year. Sales were flat at $26.9 million.

The company said same-store sales increased 4.6 percent in Las Vegas, and 2.5 percent company-wide.

"We are pleased with the progress we have made in repositioning our company from an operator of moderately sized neighborhood restaurants to an operator of high volume multi-concept food facilities," said Michael Weinstein, Ark's president.

Ark owns an operates 21 restaurants, including 14 in New York City, three in Washington, D.C., three in Boston, and one each in McLean, Va. and Islamorada, Fla.

At New York-New York, the company operates three restaurants, and runs the resort's room service, banquet facilities, employee dining room and a complex of nine smaller cafes.
