The Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans reported the bill is sponsored by Rep. Arthur Morrell, D-New Orleans.
Morrell said the 10-year provision is already law for ex-cons to get a video poker license, but there is no equivalent provision for former convicts who want to work as bartenders or dealers.
Rep. Woody Jenkins, R-Baton Rouge, opposes the measure. "Casinos are a big business and should be kept a clean business," he said.
