Studio project still has life

There has not yet been a wrap on the proposed Black Mountain Studios project.
An attorney for the film studio's developer said Friday the plan is still alive despite the best efforts of the City Council and some residents to kill it.
In a prepared statement, Paul Larsen said attorneys are "taking all necessary steps to protect the interest" of the $200-million project and its principal developer, Doris Keating.
He declined to elaborate on how those interests will be protected.
Tuesday, the Henderson City Council denied a tentative plan by Keating that would allow her to buy the remaining 66 acres of Wagon Wheel Industrial Park, where she bought 20 acres from the city in 1987 to develop the studio.
Her latest proposal would have allowed her to buy the park in 20-acre parcels over three years.
