Letter: Student drug tests infringe on rights

A large portion of the Bill of Rights is devoted to the rights of the accused and those not yet accused. Why did they need to write our Constitution when citizens are asking for our rights to be taken away? Or is it OK when someone else's rights are at stake?

Perhaps those crying for student drug testing would have no problem with their homes being searched, for no other reason than they might be doing something illegal. If they object, does that mean they have something to hide? Must be!

I have two school-age children. They will not be subjected to drug testing in school. I certainly do not want them exposed to, much less using, illegal drugs.

I would also like to see them grow up in a land that still knows freedom. If we continue allowing, even demanding, our freedoms to be taken away, one day we'll find we have none left.
