New tax chief, deputy human resources director named by Guinn

Guinn's office on Tuesday announced that Dave Pursell will take over the Taxation Depatment from Michael Pitlock, who was just named to the state Public Utilities Commission.

And John Yacenda, former director of the Great Basin Primary Care Association, takes over as deputy director of the HRD. The job had been held by Jim Polito.

Pursell has been working as a program analyst for the Legislative Counsel Bureau's fiscal division for the past three years. Before that, he was a Taxation Department staffer for 19 years, ending up as chief of assessment standards before shifting to the LCB.

Pursell, 49, starts next Monday in his job paying $92,914 a year.

Yacenda, 51, left Great Basin last month. He said he decided not to seek a renewal of his three-year contract with the organization which represents 22 health care clinics and organizations throughout Nevada and in neighboring states.

The deputy's job under HRD Director Charlotte Crawford pays $74,500 a year. Yacenda started his new post on Monday.
