The Detroit Free Press reported the Michigan Gaming Control Board asked the City Council for a list of officials and representatives of the City Council who have had "significant substantive contact with any of the three selected developers."
Nelson Westrin, the board's executive director, said each of the casino companies had "extensive contact" with city officials during the selection process and subsequent negotiations.
"The manner in which the applicants and their representatives conducted themselves in this interaction is of significant interest to the board's investigation," he wrote in a letter to the City Council.
The casino developers are MGM Grand Inc. of Las Vegas, the Atwater/Circus Circus partnership and the Greektown group. Circus Circus is based in Las Vegas.
