LAS VEGAS -- Senior Erik Scalise was awarded WAC Swimmer of the Week accolades for the week of Feb. 8-14 for his efforts in the Rebels' 171-74 victory over the University of the Pacific last Saturday. Scalise is the first Rebel swimmer to win Swimmer of the Week accolades this season. It marks the second time Scalise has won the award since UNLV joined the conference for the 1996 season.
Against Pacific, Scalise won the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:53.65. He also captured the 200 free with a season-best performance of 1:41.20, which ranks him tenth on the WAC's best times list. He is currently second on that list in both the 200 IM (1:51.76) and the 400 IM (3:58.31).
The next action for Scalise and his teammates is March 4-6 at the WAC Championships in Oklahoma City. Scalise won both IM events at last year's championships.
