Guinn appoints new Taxation Department director

CARSON CITY -- David Pursell, who worked 19 years for the state Taxation Department, has been named its director, Gov. Kenny Guinn announced on Tuesday.
Pursell, 49, replaces Michael Pitlock, who was appointed to the state Public Utilities Commission.
Pursell, who will earn $92,914 a year, has worked as a program analyst for the Legislative Counsel Bureau for the past three years. Prior to that he was with the Taxation Department where he rose to supervisor and eventually chief of assessment standards.
The governor said, "This administration is about to embark on the most comprehensive review ever of Nevada's budgeting process and revenue sources and the head of the tax department will play a crucial role in that endeavor."
