Gymnastics: Moceanu joins local team

The most recent addition to Brown's Gymnastics' list of Olympic champions is making an appearance in Henderson Saturday.

Following in the footsteps of Olympic greats such as Kerri Strug and Wendy Bruce, Dominique Moceanu recently joined the Brown's contingent as a national team member and will make her first appearance at Brown's new, state-of-the-art training facility for an open house and autograph signing session.

Moceanu will be at Brown's, located at 4544 Russell Road in the Diablo Center, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. There will also be raffles and exhibitions by team gymnasts and national aerobic competitors.

At the age of 17, Moceanu is one of the nation's top gymnasts. She recently won the all-around competition at the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York. In addition to training for the 2000 Olympics in Australia, she will be competing in the USA Championships this summer and the World Trials in September.
