LVMS to open gates to fans for Gordon testing

LVMS to open gates to fans for Gordon testingIn a unique move in motor sports, Las Vegas Motor Speedway will open its gates so fans can watch Jeff Gordon test his new Busch Series Chevrolet on Feb. 23 and 24.

Gordon will be driving the Pepsi-sponsored Chevy in five selected Busch races this year, including the March 6 Sam's Town 300 at LVMS.

Gates will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and fans will be admitted free of charge. Concession stands will be open during the test sessions and Jeff Gordon's souvenir trailer also will be at the Speedway.

Also scheduled to test those days will be Winston Cup drivers Dale Jarrett, Mike Skinner, Brett Bodine and Joe Nemechek.

Gordon also may test his No. 24 DuPont Automotive Refinishes Chevrolet NASCAR Winston Cup car during the two-day session in preparation for the March 7 Las Vegas 400.

LVMS also has scheduled an open house on Saturday, Feb. 27. Fans will be able to tour the entire facility, including the garage areas and luxury suites. Every fan in attendance will receive a collectible gift and can purchase Speedway merchandise at discount prices.

There will be a drawing every hour during the open house, in which two fans can win free rides around the LVMS 1.5-mile oval in a Richard Petty Driving Experience Winston Cup car.

There will be a grand prize for one fan to win the chance to drive one of the RPDE cars.
